The Velvet Monkey extends an invitation to the public to attend “Velvet Vaudeville,” a celebration of the salon’s 16th anniversary. The date for this event is Friday, May 12th at the Plaza District location (1701 N.W. 16th st.). The event is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m.
"We would like to invite the community to come join us for this event," offers Estrella Evans, owner of Velvet Monkey Salons. "We will have over 25 models displaying hair and style by our team members. Come enjoy an evening of music, art, wine, cheese, and more. It will definitely be a night to remember."

Estrella Evans opened Velvet Monkey Salon in 2001. She started with only one stylist in a 1927 converted house off of N.W. 23rd St. Estrella’s vision had two goals:
First, to consistently provide the finest and most current beauty services in the immediate and surrounding area. Every guest received individual attention, and her reputation soared for always having the edge on hair color and design.
Second, to provide a place of inspiration where like-minded stylists would have the opportunity to express themselves and show their talent through creating beauty.
The Velvet Monkey Salon has grown throughout the years, and so has the vision that we continue to build through our work daily. We now have over 23 team members and two locations located in OKC.
Estrella has achieved most of her goals. She is clearly recognized as a leader in the beauty industry, both locally and nationally. She has created a work environment for staff that offers stability, excitement, superior continuing education, professional growth opportunities, financial achievement, and rewards for contributions to the team. However, she continually seeks new goals aimed to please her guests' experiences by keeping staff at the “top of their game,” and bringing in industry known artists and experts to train and demonstrate the latest techniques and products.
