The Damn Quails Return: By Bryon White

Is it really happening?

Absolutely.  It’s real.  It’s happening.  It’s going to blow your fucking mind. Dates forthcoming and shall be posted as soon as dates become announced.  Thanks for sticking around, sorry about the bullshit.  Tell your friends.  Come to shows.  Make them rule.  I guarantee they’re going to be bad as hell.  As always, folks and folkettes, we’ll see you on down the road.

So that was my initial post, because I ruthlessly and thoroughly critique and criticize my own work to such a point that it occasionally hinders the prompt release of material.  Does this suck for people wanting words from yours truly in a somewhat reasonably timely fashion?  Basically, yes.  However, when I do finish a thing I have set out to compose and complete and I deem it worthy of being posted to the world wide wonderful web, it’s fucking good in my eyes.  Good is relative, but fuck you, it is.

I didn’t mean to say fuck you.  I’m sorry.  I’m a little, how should I say, “irritated in an overall and somewhat constant” sense.  I feel like I’m starting a path that will hopefully end up with myself in the role of hilarious curmudgeon a la Rick Reiley,  he of the dozens of incredible songs and the temperament of a drug free Nick Drake that still drinks brandy on occasion.  SIDE...

If you don’t know Nick Drake, go get Pink Moon and listen to it.  You’ll probably hate it, but you might absolutely love it.  Or you might think it’s okay.  How do I know?

Long story short, “Texas and Okie and North Carolina and New York City and Washington DC and all sort of folks from all sort of other places” fan, it is true that we’re going back out to make some rock and roll music.  We’re bringing friends.  We’re not going to play as many shows as we used to, but the ones we do play will be epic events with various side men and special guests.  I hope folks like Fun Kid will come play whatever he wants to play, and Steve Baker and Blake Lennon and Dan Walker and Nooch and Fullbright and Warren and Walton and Cody Angel and any number of other players and friends across the world will show up, plug in, and ride the wave of the musical experience with us again. It’s going to be a show worth seeing, it’s going to be the way we always wanted to bring out music to a live audience, and it’s going to be flexible and flowing and consistently different from night to night.  As per usual, you won’t see the same show twice.

Keep an eye out here and on the various social media outlets for breaking info and show dates and yada yada.  Follow my @bryonwhyte twitter account or my facebook artist page at facebook.com/bryonwhitemusic and you can feel good that you’ve done your part to make me feel good, and it only took a click or three.  Thanks for still giving a shit, it really does mean the world.  See you on down the red dirt successful road.
